Patterns from Wendy's Baby School at the Martha Pullen School of Art Fashion 2010 include the Embroidered Baby Layette and the Baby Chick Applique Coverlet. Bound in booklet form.

What a glorious way to prepare for a baby, while creating this exquisite baby layette. During this 2-day lesson, you will make a precious baby dress of imported linen, beautifully hand embroidred with bullion roses and swirling stems. Lovely little eyelets and Granitos are scattered about and a pretty detached applique dogwood flower is positioned front and center on the skirt. Swirling trails of stem stitch accentuate the delicate nature of the design. The edges are worked in tiny buttonhole scalloping, creating a lovely frame to this traditional design. Worked entirely with Coton a Broder (broder cotton) in pretty pastel colors, the feminine design features tee-style yoke with gathered yoke sections and three-quarter length sleeves gathered and edged with scalloped sleeve bands. The matching Gertude-style slip is also edged in scalloping and embroidered in matching style. The bonnet features a large turn back brim of similar embroidery, gathered in back to a round crown then tied in front with pretty silk satin ribbon ties and embellished with rosettes. Completing the ensemble is an adorable wrap-around bib, embroidered and tied in back. Size 6 months only.

This precious project features ultra soft puffy appliqued chicks delicately arranged around the edges of this sweet coverlet. This lovely technique involves making little machine stitched and stuffed appliques of soft stretch terrycloth which are hand appliqued onto the base fabric, then embroidered with imported wool. Wool is lovely and soft and perfect for this application, as it wears well and works up quickly. The base of the coverlet is made of pretty imported silky cotton sateen, quilted by hand in the tradition of Sashiko, then further embellished with sweet wool embroidery. The lovely coverlet is interlined with soft flannel fabric and bordered with a large scalloped flange.
