White Swiss batiste is the basis for this beautiful Edwardian creation. The elegant empire waist style bodice is softened with Swiss netting overlay of crisscrossed lace diamonds, attached with delicate machine stitching. Swiss netting also steals the scene while providing an ethereal touch to the puffed sleeves. Precious hand embroidery accents the little spaces between the lace diamond shapes, depicting the wispy blossoms of baby’s breath flowers. A full gathered skirt is accented with the most heavenly sprigs of embroidery imaginable, including such stitches as shadow work and cast-on flowers. The hem is further embellished with lace insertion surrounded by a continuous boundary of gathered lace edging. Splendid!
