This lesson of Embroidery Club features Whitework embroidery in the English style. Working with beautiful imported cotton dimity fabric, you will learn how to create perfectly-shaped buttonhole scalloping, buttonhole eyelets, buttonhole appliqué, and handmade buttonholes. This marvelous antique-inspired ladies nightgown is prettier than a picture, and ever-so-wearable. The loosely-fitted, T-style gown is cut from one long length of fabric making it virtually seamless with exception to the sides, which are joined together into French seams. It is designed to be slipped over the head, then gathered together by a satin ribbon, which when threaded through the worked buttonhole openings, provides a slightly cinched neckline. The V-front neckline is embroidered with buttonhole eyelets and appliquéd butterflies, overstitched with back-stitching and satin work. The entire neck and sleeve edges are worked in beautiful scalloped buttonhole edging. The suggested working thread is luscious, brilliant white Coton a Broder #30 embroidery cotton, especially manufactured for cutwork. The sleeves are worked in matching patterns and the ankle-length hem is finished with a deep 4” fold. This pattern is available in ladies sizes S-M-L-XL only. The pretty gown is perfect for a trousseau or the birth of your first baby portrait. Wendy’s multi-paged instruction booklet is equipped with step-by-step construction directions, beautifully illustrated stitch diagrams, and professionally-drafted patterns.

The kit contains everything you will need to complete the project in one of the four sizes, including a full skein of Coton A Broder thread, Wendy’s Embroidery Needles in 2 sizes, 3½ yards of cotton Dimity plus 9 x 9” remnant of Japanese lawn fabric, cotton hand-sewing thread bobbin, and 4 yards of silk satin ribbon ¼” wide.
