What a sassy lassie when she is, wearing this adorable little coat and hat this season. Perfect tailoring is the secret to your success in making this set. The slightly flared sides make this coat perfect for wearing over dresses and pant sets. Little princess line inserts create even more opportunities to adjust sizing, if so desired. The fastenings are classically positioned to reflect European styling and the Peter Pan style collar is simple, yet elegant as well. The matching brimmed hat consists of a short shaped brim and three back tip sections. Each joined seam is topstitched with silky topstitch thread, adding just the right accent to the otherwise simplistic style. Made from cotton featherweight corduroy and lined with silk batiste, this coat moves effortlessly from early fall to late spring. Make it in your choice of blue or pink, if purchasing an optional kit. This lesson of Embroidery Club features traditional Italian quilting, worked by hand. Wendy has chosen just the right materials you need in order to learn this intriguing art. This type of embroidery is also referred to as Trapunto, and includes basic stitches and traditional thread stuffing techniques.

The optional kit contains everything you need to complete the project in Size 1 only, including 1 ½ Yards Cotton Featherweight Corduroy (Blue or Pink), 1-1/3 Yards Silk Batiste lining (Blue or Pink), 1¼ yards interfacing, cheesecloth (for Trapunto), full skein threads such as Coton A Broder #25 to match, 4-ply wool (for stuffing), topstitching thread to match fabrics, Silk finish Mettler 50 to match fabrics, one #100 Topstitching machine needle, 3 covered buttons (3/8” wide), and Wendy’s Embroidery Needles in 2 sizes (2 each).
