This exquisite dress has been re-created from an antique embroidered baby dress. Creating the peek-a-boo insertion on your sewing machine is fun and interesting. Spaghetti bias tubing of Swiss batiste is applied horizontally and diagonally across the flower motifs of the lace to separate each blossom. The magical result is the look of little window openings, each with a single flower peeking through. Lace attached with machine pin stitch aligns the yoke and hemline of the powder blue dress. Lace strips alternating with pin tucks adorn the high yoke of the dress and the full gathered skirt is attached with wide Swiss beading and silk satin ribbon.
The front of the dress is hand embroidered with floral sprays comprised of bullions, Granitos, raised satin leaves, and dainty spoke flowers with French knot centers. Feather stitching accentuates the direction of the lace shaping.
